This Screwed-Up House - Back to Introduction.

The original spa area was so damaged with the floor rotting out and the hot tub becoming a slimy nursery for flying insects, the whole room was bulldozed.

square hole in the floor will be filled with concrete to support the weight
of the spa tub.

While this room itself was just one big mess, hence the
calling for complete demolition, there were still lots of little
aggravations left over that had to be dealt with as we prepped the remaining
walls for a new look. On the left is my personal favorite. Mr. Bullfeathers must of thought that it was terribly creative and original to use sea shells for decor in a spa room. In fact, he felt so strongly about this that he affixed them to the walls with glue, screws, and silicon sealer to make sure that nobody could get them off the walls. I literally had to take a crowbar to these brittle shells and smash them to fragments in order to remove them before I could even think about painting in here. |
| After a failed attempt at a glazed green-blue color scheme
with the paint, we decided on a mixed Middle Eastern/Indian/Egyptian sort of
theme for the room. The walls themselves were textured and had lots of remnants of glue and gunk that we just could not remove, so I decided to go with my old stand-by of using vinyl stonework tiles and grout to create a textured stone-and-mortar wall effect. This brightened up the room considerably. |

The concrete is poured and the reddish-stone floor tile is down. Now we await the arrival of the spa tub itself before the walls will be finished and the glass doors added to complete the room construction. |

And here it is... the six-person spa that all this work was
for. I'm still debating as to what exactly to do with the ceiling and the rest of the room. Some of the cats seem to really enjoy sitting in the kitchen window and yelling at us while watching us soaking in the tub. |

Another view, illustrating exactly how much I've been procrastinating on finishing this room. |
