Remember the room we had bulldozed? I'm pleased to say that
the layout for the floor has now begun in order to restore this room to its
former glory. We're actually laying the groundwork for about four different areas now. The photo on the left is where we will be adding a guest room. I haven't quite decided on a decorating theme yet, but it will likely be something exotic. Once the floor is finished (via contractor), I'll get in here and start redoing the walls. I see lots of drywall in this room's future... Of course, I still have to build up enough courage to take down all that garbage on the ceiling. Spiders... I just know there is one about the size of a tree sloth just waiting for me up there. |
| This little area with the awful cream color is destined to
become something we are really looking forward to!
We already ordered the large hot tub that will be settled down here. Unfortunately for us, the 4-6 week delivery time on it means we'll have already broken our backs with our current work pace before we'll be able to enjoy the benefits of hydro-therapy! The only other thing I can tell you about this room-to-be is that it will have a green and blue color scheme. Right now we're thinking Egyptian or Middle-Eastern. I told everyone right off the bat that every home spa room I've seen to date has been either Mediterranean or Tropical Island themed - so we will not be doing either! |

Another view of the spa room extension, plus an area that
will be left open as an actual deck. Duckie's going to love having a proper
place to do all his outdoor grilling.
Chances are, we'll probably screen part of this in. The property backs up to a small canal that is a haven for mosquitoes in the summer. That, and I know at least two of us are rather uncomfortable being in full sunlight. |
| And here is another area that I'm looking forward to
improving upon, although the actual construction of the room won't start
until sometime next year at the very least. This is the area slated to
become the new Ossuary Bathroom. The boarded-up window leads to my bedroom, and will be taken out in favor of a doorway once the room is built. We decided to use a deck-like base because I will be sinking a large bathtub into the floor to make the fountain pool in the decor plans. We also have plans to make the Ossuary accessible from the outside deck area for convenience. That should be a hoot during barbeques and hot tub parties - sending unsuspecting guests into the nearest "bathroom". Maybe I should install a hidden video camera to catch their expressions upon walking a few feet into the room. For those who are completely lost as to what I'm talking about, my old Ossuary can be found here. |

The walls are coming together. We've decided on using sliding glass doors here instead of windows. Notice we still haven't attempted to remove the garbage off the wall yet. I suppose that will have to be done in the next few weeks as this room nears completion. |

The hot tub is due to arrive within the next couple of weeks, so the race is on to get the spa area finished. I really need to finalize a color scheme in here soon! |
