Main Bathroom

First, a little background here. I forgot to bring a camera the day I tackled this room. But it was the very first room I did because it was somewhat of an emergency.

For some insane reason, Mr. Bullfeathers decided that the best floor for a bathroom was untreated wood parquet literally glued to a cement foundation. While I'm sure it looked great at first, a few years of leaks and overflows from common bathroom fixtures that were not kept in good condition caused the floor to buckle terribly. The floor resembled the shell of a snapping turtle by the time I got to it.

Then, just to make it funny, it was ripping out that floor that caused me to discover I have an allergy to certain types of mold. The same mold that was growing in abundance underneath the buckled, rotting wood. The floor is now covered with a durable, easy-to-clean vinyl.

The theme to this room was a jungle, which dictated the color scheme. I decided to go with a "big cat" pattern using a splotchy painting technique on the ceiling and shower stall walls, with a dappled green everywhere else.

While removing the wall accessories to paint, I had yet another surprise. Behind the toilet paper roll holder was a huge hole in the drywall. Once again, Mr. Bullfeathers demonstrated that his solution for fixing something is to put something else in front of it.

To be honest, the dappled green walls were my attempt to disguise the many plaster patch-ups I had to do on the walls before painting.
