 Bedroom #2

Last updated - March 10, 2006

This room is slated to become the one that I'll be sleeping in, so you know I have many plans for it. Later on, I'll be adding a bathroom coming off of it to put in a new Ossuary (and walk-in crypt closet) but for now I just need to get this room tolerable.

This shot was taken after we got all the molds and craft supplies out of it.

This is the first (and most obvious) nightmare I've encountered in this room so far. Originally this room had a jungle theme, and Mr. Bullfeathers decided he wanted vinyl wood laminate in here. Not a bad idea... if you install it properly.

But just gluing laminate on concrete just doesn't work. At least I know it will be easy to get the floor up when I get around to re-flooring this room with actual wood. But for now, Rum-Tum the cat has decided to help me get a head start by taking up the flooring for me.

I didn't even bother putting drop cloths and newspaper down when I started painting in here.

Okay, this is a funny story...

I absolutely loathe the color orange. It's a running joke in my household that someone is going to "get even" with me by painting my bedroom orange. So I had to laugh when the color scheme I have in mind for this room required a burnt orange base coat.

The theme was inspired by a gorgeous room I saw in a book of homes in Ibiza, where a room was literally built in to the side of a rocky cavern.

Originally I planned to make this room into a replicated cavern, but then changed my mind after the walls were done...

I know the photo isn't catching all the details, but trust me when I tell you that the walls turned out gorgeous. They look like they were upholstered in old leather.

So now I'm thinking that a black ceiling is in order to make this room look very rich with a modern touch, especially with the ornate wooden furnishings and the adding of a dark wood floor.

That window will be going away sometime, as it's where the entrance to the new bathroom will be. However, no force on Earth will change my mind about rebuilding the Ossuary bathroom.

3/15/06  Black ceiling now completed...and my arms are killing me!
